All Saints Day
All Saints Day falls on Tuesday 1st November, Mass in St James at 7-00pm. All Saints Day is a Solemnity, a day when we ought to be at Mass if we can.
All Souls Day
The Commemoration of the Faithful Departed falls on Wednesday 2nd November. Mass in St James at 7-00pm. At this Mass the names of the Faithful Departed will be remembered, please check the list in church and then add any more names to it if you wish.
The House Mass for November will be held on Monday 28th November 8-00pm at the home of Jeff and Catherine Graham, 69 Tower Street, Brightlingsea. These times of worship are a wonderful opportunity for less formal worship with an extended opportunity for prayer and a great time of fellowship to help build up the Body of Christ in our church and part of Colchester. Please join us.
Service for the Bereaved
The annual service for those who have been bereaved, which St James hosts and organises in conjunction with the Hunnaball Family Funeral Service, will be held in St James on Saturday 19th November at 11-00am. Please come along if you feel this service may be of help to you and tell anyone else or perhaps bring them with you, if you know someone who might benefit from joining us. The preacher at this year’s ecumenical service will be the Reverend Hilary Platts, one of Colchester Hospital’s chaplains.
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament
Advent begins on Sunday 27th November; it is one of the prime seasons of preparation and anticipation in the Church’s year. To give us a prayerful starting point, as well as the Sunday Mass there will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction at 6-00pm that day. Please return to church to worship for a second time and commend Advent, one of the most wonderful seasons of the year, to God. This will also have the focus of our Mission Week which begins on this day.
