The Ascension of the Lord – Thursday 5th May
Ascension Day falls on Thursday 5th May, the Mass will be celebrated at the usual time of 12-30pm.
We will celebrate the Ascension of the Lord on the Sunday of the Ascension, 8th May 2016, with Mass at 8-00am and 10-00am.
Pentecost – Sunday 15th May
Pentecost is the third most important day in the Church’s year, following on From Easter and Christmas. On this day, fifty days after Easter, we remember and celebrate God’s great gift to us of the Holy Spirit. This is such an important day and time of our year, please do your very best to join us at Mass.
The Holy Rosary – Monday 16th May
The Rosary will be prayed in St James on Monday 16th May at 7-30pm. everyone welcome and instruction is given. If you do not have your own rosary do not worry as there are always some available to borrow or to buy.
The Archbishops’ Call to Prayer
The Archbishops of Canterbury and York are calling members of the Church of England to prayer around Pentecost this year, asking that we pray for growth in the Church, for our mission and deepening of spiritual life. As ever, we at St James will be fully part of this and we will party on Saturday 14th May. Mass as usual at 9-00am which will be followed by silent prayer before the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction. We will finish by 10-00am. Please do all you can to join us for at least part of the Holy Hour.
Corpus et Sanguis Christi
The Solemnity of Corpus Christi falls on Thursday 26th May. As is now our custom, we will join with the people from St Barnabas Old Heath for a joint celebration in St James at 7-30pm, Fr Richard will preach. This will be followed by a Bring and Share party, please do join us and bring something to share, bearing in mind we will have guests with us.
The Thursday 12-30pm Mass will also be held as usual.
The Body and Blood of Christ will also be observed on Sunday 29th May with Masses at the usual times.
