Meet outside St James for 6.30 for our ramble to Rowhedge across the marshes alongside the River Colne. Light refreshments will be served on arrival before transport back into Colchester.
This will be a donations event for Church Funds
The Church of England nationally is due to lose up to 30% of its priests to retirement in the next five to ten years, in our Diocese nearly 50% are reaching retirement. This crisis of priests is being thought about and many suggestions are coming to the fore as to how to manage this situation. In our deanery of Colchester, a day of prayer has been called to commend this to God. The day is to be Saturday 23rd May, the Saturday of Pentecost weekend. Pentecost is the day when we recall God giving life to the Church through the great and changing gift of the Holy Spirit.
At St James the usual Mass will be held at 9-00am and this will be followed by an hour of Exposition and silent prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, we will link our prayers for the future of the Deanery with prayer for men to offer themselves for the Sacred Priesthood and the vocations work of the Additional Curates Society.
Please come to St James to pray and if you can’t, then spend extra time in prayer that day with these intentions.
Rowhedge village are holding their 5th Annual Front Garden Table Top Sale on Sunday 10th May 10am-3pm.
We have a fund raising table on Stephens front garden at this event.
Why not come and walk around the village and see what bargains can be found after Mass that day and if you have anything to sell you can bring it along. There is an all day breakfast and homemade cake café at St Lawrence School, refreshments also available at the Tea Room Hut on the water front.
